Official MDBEERPONG.COM League Rules

  1. Terminology: These terms are defined to remove ambiguity:
    • Roster: 6-10 players.
    • Squad: All players on a roster present that day.
    • Team: Two partners from a squad.
    • Game: An individual game between two teams on opposing squads.
    • Series: A best two out of three game series.
    • Set: Three series played simultaneously on three tables.
    • Match: Three sets (nine series).
    • Field: Players designated to play in a particular set (three teams).
  2. Game Rules: All games will be played using current MDBP rules.
  3. Squad Captain: Each squad must have a captain whose responsibility it is to keep an accurate scorecard and to serve as a point of contact for the league.
  4. Rosters: Each squad fields players from their roster. Players can only be on one squad's roster per league. Players can be added after the season starts but must be registered by the designated cut off date. Substitute players may be used (see below).
  5. Fields: A field consists of six players, two of which must be females. If a squad has less than two females present, teams will be handicapped to account for the missing females. The minimum number of players that can be fielded is three, each assigned to handicapped teams. Once a field has been set and assigned to tables, it can not change. Players not assigned to a field will not play in that particular set but can play in subsequent sets.
  6. Teams: Teams consist of two players from a squad's roster. Teams may be made of two males, two females, or coed. Two players may only be paired together once per match.
  7. Match Structure: Each match will be assigned three tables to play on. A set consists of three games on those three tables. A match consists of three consecutive sets.
  8. First Choice: A squad granted "first choice" will choose their field of players before the other squad. The squad designated as the away squad will receive "first choice".
  9. Table Side: The squad granted "first choice" will choose the table side they will play from.
  10. Proceeding Sets: Consecutive sets will alternate "first choice" until all sets are played.
  11. End of the Match: A match is concluded when all three sets are played. The squad with the most series victories is declared the winner.
  12. Rankings: Squads are ranked by matches won followed by total points. Squads will receive one point per series win throughout the season.
  13. Tie-breakers: Total points will be used as the first tie-breaker. If sqauds have the same number of points, the tie will be broken by the previous week's ranking. If ties persist a coin flip will serve as the final tie-breaker.
  14. Substitutions: Players may not be substituted during a set.
  15. Substitute Players: Substitute players are permitted under the following conditions:
    • 3 players on the roster must be present.
    • New permanent players can register the day of league if necessary.
    • Squads are only permitted one sub of each gender.
    • Players from other squads (in either league) can sub for free if they wear their league shirt.
    • Sub players, not currently playing in a league, can play provided they sign the waiver form.
    • No subs in the playoffs.
  16. Handicaps: A handicapped team consists of only one player. That player will only receive one shot per turn and can not "double up". The handicapped team (player) shoots until they miss in rebuttals. A player may only play handicapped once per match (if possible).
  17. Forfeits: In the event that a squad cannot field the minimum number of players, the squad captain must notify the league at least 24 hours prior to match time. Squads whose opponents forfeit will earn a win and little score their average point total.
