It was a hot, sticky day in the Nation's Capital as the league participants battled it out for the title of the Champions of the Washington, DC Summer League. The number 1 seed in the tournament, Urinal Cakes, managed to go all the way, losing the first match-up in the finals to 2nd place Random White Guy but then winning the final series to take home the gold! It's been a busy week in the MDBP. The Locust Point League Tournament, WSOBP Satellite in Gaithersburg, and the Federal Hill League Tournament are all in the books. Ravens fans are riding high after, basically, performing sexual assault at M&T Bank Stadium on Saturday night. Redskins fans are coming upon the realization that their racist team is still terrible. There were a lot of new faces and a ton of great talent at yesterday's Gaithersburg WSOBP Satellite. Balls were flying into cups, trash was being talked, state rivalries were being tested, and a WSOBP bid was on the line! It was easy to tell who were the loud mouths and who was there just to get drunk and have a good time, but the question of who was going to win the tournament was a tougher question to answer with the level of talent that showed up. As was the theme for most of the Federal Hill Summer League, the league championship tournament came down to the top two teams, Nanticoke Street and Smoking Aces. In the end it was the tournaments #1 seeded Smoking Aces who prevailed, winning both the regular season and tournament. In 3rd place was the Drunkenballers followed by Double Fault at 4th. Rivalries are what make sports interesting. Sure, the antics that go along with a rivalry may be detrimental to the spirit of the game. But why else would anyone care to watch the Ravens/Redskins preseason match-up? Even fans of the two teams would have to admit that the game was an abomination. Preseason games are pretty much worthless, except for when you get to watch your franchise QB fail to properly call an audible and end up with 12 stitches. Rivalries are the only compelling reason to keep watching....

It was the final league night before the Federal Hill Summer League Championships and it came right down to the wire. In both teams final series, Smoking Aces (11-1) took 2 out of 3 from Nanticoke Street (10-2) to secure their place as the league's top team.
