It has been a while since my last blog post but I just got out of the woodshed and rushed straight to the computer to start writing this. The Hot Topic of today is the future of beer pong. For those of you who follow the forums, you have probably read the thread on there that I would like to expand upon. I already threw in my two cents on the forums so I am not going to repeat myself. Instead, I am going to further address several ideas from that thread that really intrigued me.

This Wednesday at Union Jack's, MDBP is hosting a mock World Series of Beer Pong to help teams get ready for the real thing out in Vegas. The event will be divided in preliminaries and final tournament. In the prelims, teams will be split into groups of 4 and play round robin, keeping track of wins and cup differentials.Assuming 16 teams total, the top 2 teams from each group (determined by # of wins followed by cup differentials for ties) go into an 8 team single elimination best of 3 series winners bracket. The bottom 8 teams are put into...
Sign-ups for the 3rd annual East vs West Tournament are now live. We'll be taking on the West Coast in four 32-team brackets where the top 16 teams will get a part of the $4,000 purse. The event is taking place in Las Vegas the day before the WSOBP (Jan 1st). Registration is first come, first served so please don't...
As many of you already know they are calling for upwards of a foot of snow tomorrow. Unfortunately, we are forced to cancel the WSOBP Practice Tournament for tomorrow. We don't want people taking the risk of driving in those conditions. Thanks for understanding.

The A-Train is back from a long week at sea. It was nice taking a much deserved break after states. Nothing is more relaxing than a week spent frolicking with dolphins.
When I returned to Baltimore it was time to go watch my Baltimore Ravens take on the Detroit Lions. What a shock to the system. I'm sure the Lions fans were okay in the weather considering that Detroit is north of Canada (it's true, look it up). I on the other hand was not prepared for the elements. It's not a good idea to take on...
And so the 2009 Maryland Beer Pong season ended the way it began. Wet Ballz won the first tournament of the season at Laurel Park and its final tournament at the same venue. Say what you want about Wet Ballz, but it's damn impressive what they've accomplished. I get excited when I win three league games in a row. To win three straight state championships is amazing. I'd love to find a way to diminish their victory in some way, but I can't.
I'm sure you all would have loved to read the Tuesday Morning Bring-Back a week ago, but...
A message from our friends at Laurel Racetrack, the hosts of the 2009 Maryland State Beer Pong Championships™...

The Anne Arundel County Council votes Monday on whether to approve zoning for slots at Arundel Mills Mall. Laurel Racetrack will be auctioned to a new owner on January 8.
If Arundel Mills gets slots approval Monday, Laurel Racetrack's value will plummet. The most likely buyers would then be housing and commercial developers,...
Bring out your dead! Ding. Bring out your dead! Ding. Folks, get that cart outta here, I’m not dead yet. It’s been tough with a computer more wishy-washy than Dean and research papers and lab reports to write, but I finally have a moment to blog. Please try to contain yourselves. I guess I’ll start with some thoughts on States.
As I guess nobody knew; States was pretty much the last tournament I’ll be running. Being retired, I’m now free to sit on my porch and yell at any and all passerby. It’s quite a privilege. Don’t worry though, you’ll...
Pictures and the video of the final match have been posted for your viewing pleasure. There are a ton of pictures that can be found on the pictures page. The video has been posted on YouTube and has been posted below. Look for the State Championships montage video which should be ready around Christmas time.
The Wet Ballz Dynasty will continue for at least another year. They lost the series against Who's In Your Mouth? in the winner's bracket finals and then defeated McAllister to earn a rematch against Who's In Your Mouth?. When Wet Ballz lost the first game of the series and then got honeycombed in the second, all the momentum was on Who's In Your Mouth's side. Then the tide turned on the side of the two-time defending state champions and it was only a matter of time until Wet Ballz earned their third straight Maryland State Championship. The Wet Ballz...
